Petra Nemcova: Hot Boots, Dolce, A Dash of Grandma
Petra Nemcova knows that beauty is more than a pretty face and a stellar wardrobe. Petra is a survivor of the Asian tsunami that hit Thailand five years ago. She lost her fiancée, photographer Simon Atlee in the tsunami, and has since started a charity called “Happy Hearts” for child survivors of disaster.
To date, Happy Hearts has raised more than $1.5 million to help children in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Pakistan live healthy, happier lives filled with hope rather than fear. Initially, Petra was known around the world for her beauty but her genuine love for life and her unconditional belief in the good of people has made her even more attractive to all.
Petra now hosts a reality television series called ‘A Model Life’ that debuted on TLC on July 13, 2007. The show follows the life of six aspiring models that move to New York City who attempt to obtain a lucrative modeling contract with the NEXT Modeling agency. When asked about this reality show, TLC states that Petra will guide the global candidates and “Nemcova will advise models on how to succeed in the fashion industry and will also underscore the importance of having a well rounded life, including giving back to their communities.”
