How long have you been collecting these items?

Not long. I just really became interested in politics after the first time I heard Barack Obama Speak.

Give us a little background on your collection

Since Barack Obama has won his bid for presidency, it seems that his likeness is being sold all over the world. And I started out with a T-shirt with his face etched in crystals and then magazine covers soon followed.

How did you develop an interest in this particular collection?

Besides the historical fact that Barack Obama will be the first African-American president, I thought that he was not only intelligent, but also good-looking so why not collect items with that handsome face on it? Watch out Denzel!

What approach did you take in starting this particular collection?

Well, after he won the election, I immediately went to every book store, grocery and drug store in the neighborhood looking for magazine covers with his face on it. Then friends and family started giving them to me. So when I found a cover, I would by two or three to give to family and friends.

What are your favorite specialty items in your collection?

My favorite items I must say are the custom made items. My good friend Jacinta Ligon who is a fabulous fashion designer made me a pair of Barack Obama jeans under her new label, Junk Jeans Couture and she also surprised me one day with a Barack Obama handbag! Also I bought a cell phone skin with Obama 08 and his likeness.

What other collections or hobbies do you have?

I collect shot glasses, masks and unusual ethnic jewelry.

Are there any other items in this collection that are not shown here?

Yes, actually I have one of his books, called "The Audacity of Hope" and I have a time magazine on order and a friend in Chicago is getting me a duplicate Chicago Tribune cover.
