ormer Destiny’s Child Kelly Rowland once wanted to look Caucasian, whereas Baby Phat designer, Kimora Lee Simmons –half Asian and half African American– might have preferred skin much darker than her own. Students in the suburbs of St. Louis accused Simmons of being “white”. They did not know how to categorize her biracial features.

Rowland told Essence Magazine, "I remember wishing I was more fair-skinned, but Tina Knowles, Beyoncé's mom, would say, 'Don't you know how beautiful you are?' She made me come into my brown beauty. I didn't get it, but now I do. I am chocolate and beautiful and loving it."

Simmons, has also looked to Beyonce’ for style advice, or at least how to organize. Both Rowland and Simmons share a penchant for shimmery fabrics, halter dresses, and long flowing locks. So, we investigated.
