How long have you been collecting these items?

I have been collecting Ebony Visions by Thomas Blackshear since 1996.

Give us a little background on your collection

Thomas Blackshear's Ebony Visions collection is a beautiful work of art that symbolizes all the different aspects of human life. My collection is filled with figurines that depict all facets of life. From the birth of a new baby to the rites of passsage of becoming an adult, to the storytelling of our ancestors and all types of loving relationships. Each piece tells a different story.

How did you develop an interest in this particular collection?

Actually I began collecting similar art from another artist who's collection was called "All God's Children".

What approach did you take in starting this particular collection?

I saw a piece that I really liked called the music maker. From then I just chose pieces that appealed to me.

What are your favorite specialty items in your collection?

I really can't say that I have a favorite piece. I love them all, but if I had to choose I would say "Little Blue Wings" which is a Christmas ornament depicting an angel with blue wings.

What other collections or hobbies do you have?

I also collect water pitchers and matching wash bowls.
