L'Amour Ameer was born in Dayton, OH was raised in Chicago, but has always considered New York home. L'Amour started out as an artist. He has been an artist ever since he could remember. He received scholarships to art institutes and the Living Arts Center.
He attended Sinclair Community College where he majored in Business Administration, Business Law and Fine Arts. He also attended Dayton Art Institute and The Living Arts Center.
Being a track runner and dancer, the 6 foot, 4 inch athlete had massive thighs that would not fit into ready-to-wear pants so his grandmother used to alter his pants for him.
He began designing as a senior in high school when his grandmother stopped altering for him. He made a pair of wide leg baggy pants that his instructor told him he could not make. He was coaxed into wearing them in a dance recital and received such a great response, he began selling them. He also made and sold pillows that he fashioned out of old jeans.
L'Amour has been involved in several fashion shows including Dayton Cultural Affairs, City Wide Kwanza Fashion Show, Ebony Fashion Show, Miss Black America Ohio, American Business Women's Association.
L'Amour has dressed legends Miles Davis and Bill Cosby as well famous personalities such as Vivica A. Fox, Eddie Murphy and Dorian Harewood, among others. His designs have also appeared in publications such as Bride Noir, Jet, Ebony and Urban Flava.
