When she was seven she won a talent contest singing Aretha Franklin's "Respect."

In 1992 her dubut album "What's the 411?" went multi-platinum.

The multi-platinum album set titled "What's the 411?', executive produced by Sean “Diddy” Combs, including two R&B No.1 hits: “You Remind Me” and “Real Love.”

She has sold over 25 million records worldwide since her career began in 1991.

Blige has had thirty-one charting hits on the U.S. Pop Charts, forty hits on the R&B Charts, seventeen of which were in the top ten and six which reached number one.

She’s been married to her manager, Kendu Isaacs, since 2003 and is stepmother to his three children.

Blige was a spokesperson for the M•A•C AIDS Fund.
