CELEBRITY CLOSETS

Melody Biringer

T
ruthfully, Melody’s closet is not limited to the closet. Because fashion and uncovering those crave-able items in cities everywhere is a big task, her house is (tastefully) bursting with things she couldn’t resist along the way. In a front hall corner, she has set up a row of hooks, holding layers of bags, from the classic messenger to the kitschy tote. “I love M0851 from Montreal, but my favorite location is in Vancouver, B.C. Their leather is like butter and the style is so simple and modern. I have the same bag in black and grey, and a slightly different style in brown. Since I wear mostly black, grey and brown, it is an easy decision which bag to grab.”

Over the stairwell railing, oversized scarves double as mini-blankets, including a knitted number the color of a dark storm cloud; these, from Sonja Clothes To Live In, in Tacoma, Washington.

But perhaps, descending into the basement and CRAVE central (aka, her office), we discover the real treasures of our hunt in CRAVE Melody’s “closet”: flyers, promotions, and plans for future CRAVE domination all over the walls. And here, the literal keys to her closet’s trophy possessions, gathered from years of work: piles of CRAVE guides, ready for you. Behind her desk, carefully arranged magazine articles and awards decorate the wall, each one gushing about CRAVE. “I put those up there to remind myself what I’m doing,” Melody says, thoughtfully and humbly. We understand, Melody, it would be easy to lose focus in your line of work. There are just too many things in the world to crave.
