IN THIS FEATURE: Meet Mr. Le Bon Fashion Focus Biography

imon is no stranger to fashion, between his time as a pop star and being married to model Yasmin Le Bon. Throughout the years he has attended fashion shows like Alice Temperley, Stella McCartney, Burberry Prorsum, Qasimi, Issa and G-Star to name a few. He has attended both on his own and in support of his wife who sometimes struts her stuff down the runway.

MyCloset: From the beginnings of Duran Duran until now, how has your own personal style evolved?

SLB: I HAVE A GREAT MENTOR IN YASMIN LEBON. SHE TAUGHT ME A LOT. SHE TAUGHT ME THINGS LIKE NEVER WEAR MATCHING SHOES AND BELTS.

MyCloset: Who are your favorite designers?

SLB: J. LINDBERG. SUITS THAT ARE SIXTIES INSPIRED. CUTS REALLY NARROW, LITTLE LAPELS. I LIKE THAT LOOK. THE ALFIE, THE ORIGINAL ALFIE LOOK.

MyCloset: Anything in the closet that you would never throw away?

SLB: I’VE GOT THIS… WHAT’S HIS NAME THE FRENCH GUY WITH THE BLONDE HAIR? JOHN PAUL GAULTIER. I’VE GOT THIS ZIP UP SORT OF ACRYLIC NICKERED TOP. I DON’T KNOW IF I’D EVER WEAR IT AGAIN. IT’S SO CLINGY, BUT REALLY NICE. IT’S GOT ARAB WRITING ALL DOWN IT. IT’S GRAY AND WHITE, WITH BIG STRIPES ALL DOWN IT. I JUST CAN’T BRING MYSELF TO GET RID OF IT. I NEVER THROW CLOTHES AWAY.

MyCloset: Did you ever wear it on stage?

SLB: I DON’T KNOW. I GUESS. I’VE CHANGED SHAPE IN THE LAST TWENTY YEARS. MY SHOULDERS HAVE GOTTEN A LOT BIGGER. I’VE STARTED GETTING INTO FITNESS AND THINGS. I’M NOT SURE IF IT WOULD FIT ME. I GOT FAT.

MyCloset: You’re not fat.

SLB: I’M FAT.

MyCloset: How do you edit your closet?

SLB: I TRY TO. OTHERWISE I END UP WITH NO SPACE WHATSOEVER. I HAVE A LIMITED AMOUNT OF SPACE. I SOMETIMES DO IT. I CAN BE VERY QUICK AND GET EXACTLY THE RIGHT THINGS. AND SOMETIMES I TAKE A LONG TIME AND COME BACK WITH LOTS OF THINGS I NEVER WEAR. IT CAN BE EITHER, HIT OR MISS.

MyCloset: What is your biggest fashion faux pas?

SLB: SOME HAIRDOS IN THE EIGHTIES BUT WHO DIDN’T MAKE THOSE FAUX PAS?
