Artemis4 & Her Marathon of Fashion

Q&A with Artemis4

What is your dream occupation?
To be a fashion writer/editor.
What is your favorite activity or hobby?
Skydiving!
What makes your hometown special?
(Shell Beach, California) It is close to the beach.
I love this little sweater dress by Michael Simon.
I love this jacket--it adds bling and goes with anything!
Me in my skirt by M-A-G by Magaschoni, shirt is by LOFT & shoes by Marco Santi (for Sole Society)
My Closet is filled with unique pieces that reflect my personality.
What would be your dream vacation?
Galapagos.
What is your favorite or best feature in or of your closet?
Two things. One, I try to look for unique pieces and accents that create visual interest and reflect my personality. Two, I’m a sucker when it comes to finding the best deals. I rarely pay retail for fashion, and I love finding a great deal on something—for example, I spent $40 on a pair of Tom Ford sunglasses, and they retail for over $350.
What is your favorite outfit in your closet?
The most comfortable: White Michael Kors tee with white sequins, William Rast skinny jeans, Sharagamo khaki jacket with purple sequins, Cheetah scarf by Banda, and my Tori Burch Elephant boots.
What is your craziest thing/outfit in your closet?
A pink dress with butterflies by Free People. It looks awful on me. It was a “crazy” purchase that I’m sure would look great--on somebody else.
My favorite cami by Ann Taylor has snaps to hold in your bra straps.
This Charles Gray trench is fabulous--it makes any outfit look chic!
These Tom Ford Spring Shades are edgy and fun!
This Red Falchi Bag is roomy and versatile
If you were given the opportunity to have a famous designer revamp your entire wardrobe, who would you choose?
Chanel; Christian Louboutin (shoes)
Who are your favorite artists (painters, writers, musicians etc.)?
I tend to have favorite paintings, poems, songs, rather than favorite artists, because for me, my favorite is what moves me at the time, and that all depends on what’s going on in my life. That said, Chagall, Lowell, and Coltrane get to me every time.
What is your favorite classic movie?
The Gypsy Moths, with Burt Lancaster, Gene Hackman, and Deborah Kerr
What is your favorite magazine?
The New Yorker; for fashion: InStyle
If you could have a dinner party and only invite 5 people who would they be?
Czeslaw Milosz, Dalai Lama, Samuel Beckett, Virginia Woolf, & my father
What is your greatest accomplishment and why?
I have run 4 marathons. It was a great accomplishment because when I started training, I was not a runner. My physical therapist told me that my body type and the bone structure in my feet are entirely wrong for running long distances. During training for my first marathon, I quickly developed horrible shin splints that made me miss several months of training. They were so painful I could not walk, let alone run. He promised to see me through one marathon, but recommended that I not try to run more. The moment he told me that, I knew that I had to prove him wrong. I knew he meant well, but I just don’t believe that we, as humans, ought to attempt to place limitations on one another. I think that what we can achieve is limitless so long as we don’t believe that we have limits!
