angkok is a modern, cosmopolitan, fast-paced city of more than 10 million people. It’s noisy on the surface, but quiet in pockets. Buddha is revered in this country, so at every turn, even next to high fashion malls, you’ll find a temple, a shrine, a statue or a shop girl about to worship.

With year-round warm weather and a crush of people on the streets and subways, the style here is decidedly easy-breezy. Women and men sport tanks and tees of every color, design and shape under light jackets and cardigans (in case of air conditioning). During our visit, neon colors and boldly designed prints dominated (think: 80s pop culture). Much like the U.S., tops are thrown, casually, over leggings (mostly black). The footwear of choice? Ballet flats or low-heeled sandals for women, sporty sneakers for men.
