EMERGING DESIGNER |
Troize Condè |
Troize Condè , who prefers to go simply by Condè, grew up in New York and attended the School of Performing Arts in Rochester, New York. Being the creative type and not being able to afford the latest name-brand trends, Condè would take plain clothes and apply his own style with a sharpie or other mediums that would not wash off. He and his crew made up of about 8 or 10 classmates called themselves Future of Da Funk. Each member had a unique talent and together they creatively transformed the fashion scene on campus. Students would come to them when they wanted to add something creative and unique to their jeans. They would do airbrushing, lettering, acrylic painting. They would even draw the person's face on their apparel. They loved what they were doing and made a respectable amount of money making customized pieces for their classmates. Condè's yearbook quote was "To be original is to be famous."
After high school Condè had plans to enter a 2 and 2 program that consisted of attending Buffalo State Collec for Graphic and Apparel Design for 2 years and then transferring to F.I.T. for Fashion Design for the next 2 years. Unfortunately, his mother took ill during his second year of college and he had to leave school. Undeterred from his dream he began to teach himself the fashion business on his own. He would work at stores and read numerous fashion books. He started designing t-shirts to make extra money. He sold his goods at local music festivals and made enough cash to buy a van and open his own custom design store which he named 585 Rocity. The name was derived from Rochester's new area code 585 which had been recently changed from 716. He customized any and everything from sneakers, t-shirts, jeans and more. He transformed ordinary pieces of clothing using airbrush, heat transfer, paint and other mediums. If it had anything to do with customized apparal, 585 Rocity did it. Soon people started requesting custom shirts for exclusive parties. A friend brought him some blazers to customize and that's when Condè Couture began to take off. He used crystals as embellishments because he knew he wanted his line to be a high-end brand.
The original Condè Couture line was initially created to get people's attention. There are plans to expand the line to include more high-end apparel called the Legacy of Condè which will consist of Egyptian cotton, cashmere and other luxurious fabrics. His future line will also include an array of accessories like belts, cufflinks, and tie clips for men and handbags, shoes and crystal embellished belts for women. In 2010 Condè Couture won Orlando's Best Clothing Line of the Year. Condè has aspirations fo being the number one brand of the South. We have no doubt he will reach his goal.
