Cindy Greene: The Revamp Queen!
Greene and (LA based) partner Johnson Hartig raid treasures from decades past, and then sew on crystals and decals to bring it to the 21st century.
Just like the clothes, Greene has recreated herself, from film student at the Art Institute of Chicago, to Corporate Apparel Design Director at DKNY, five years as a back up singer with Lizzy Yoder, for elect clash band Fischerspooner, and now full time clothing designer.
I’m not one of these brand whores. I don’t buy labels for labels.
– Cindy Greene
Cindy Greene is one of the creative masterminds behind the one of a kind brand Libertine, which launched in 2001.
Before making her own impact on the fashion industry, Greene was a graphic designer at DKNY.
Cindy got her “big break” when she sent a t-shirt she had designed to an LA based actor who wore it to a party, shortly after she was selling her lines at high end boutiques.
Greene and her partner Hartig, have been taking the fashion world by storm when they started mixing vintage pieces with graphic prints that everyone is sporty today.
Greene uses silkscreens to scan images of 19 century images, such as birds, skulls, insects, flags, ect.
