Bukky Are |
Bukky finds inspiration for her designs from her travels around the world. Many of her pieces are constructed of fabrics from West Africa with American and European influences. This is a line were you can define your own style, which includes couture, contemporary and urban. In essence, Bukky creates a lifestyle.
No detail is ever overlooked in Bukkys designs and she guarantees top quality and exceptional hand tailoring in each of her pieces. Daring hemlines, plunging necklines, and the use of sequins characterize her womens wear. Bukky is completely involved in the entire process of her garments - from concept to completion.
Bukky grew up studying different designers and is most influenced by
Michael Kors, Donna Karan and Nigerian fashion designer, Dakova. House of Versatile Styles has been showcased in the United States as well as internationally; from Gala events to fundraisers for HIV/AIDS Awareness. Bukkys styles have graced the runways at events such as DC FASHION WEEK 09, RED WINE & HORS D'OEUVRES-FASHION SHOW -Houston, TX; Against Illiteracy Poverty and AIDS (FUSION-FASHION SHOW)LAGOS, NIGERIA; Egyptian Queens and Rice University (Annual Fashion Show); RUNWAY TO CURE ,an AIDS Awareness Fashion Show. House of Versatile Styles is continuing to be noticed on the fashion front as Bukky has been invited to showcase at Virgin Islands Fashion Week, and Atlanta Fashion Week. Watch out world!

The black pants collection! Every time I shop I guilt myself into picking a new pair up, my excuse is always "different texture,different style"
If you were given the opportunity to have a famous designer revamp your entire wardrobe, who would you choose?
Micheal Kors! I find his technique simply phenomenal.

What are your best and worst fashion purchases?
Best at the moment will have to be my vintage sunglasses collection, I have a thing for vintage at the moment!
Worst-I love stones,a pair of earrings I picked up in Houston, the earrings did not last a day and as always I was assured they were great quality.
Who makes your favorite pair of jeans? Shoes? Dress or Suit?
I do! Shoes? I have to say am a Jimmy Choo gal but today "Nine West" is the way to go. I have been making my own dresses for the past couple of years now! When it comes to suits Jones New York always has a tasteful collection.
If you had to describe your personal style in one word, what would it be?
Versatile!
If you could bring back any fashion trend, what would it be?
The bubble, umbrella some call it, I see its fading away but I find very unique.
If we could take a peek into your personal closet, what would we find?
Lots of blacks and my favorites purple and greens. I have a thing for blazers so you will see different styles and cuts.
