RG: THE TWO BRANDS ARE REMINISCENT OF WHERE MY LIFE IS GOING. I LIVE IN THE CITY WHERE I MAKE ART. IT’S MORE ABSTRACT, INTELLECTUAL. THAT’S ROGAN. WITH LOOMSTATE, I GO TO THE BEACH. IT’S NOT AS P.C. A LITTLE MORE RELAXED, NOT SO SERIOUS. ROGAN IS THE MIND. LOOMSTATE IS THE HEART. IT IS NOT NECESSARILY PRECONCEIVED.

You’ve mentioned you have a uniform that you wear every day.

RG: I WEAR OUR FUNNEL PANT. I ROTATE. A COUPLE DENIM, ONE CANVAS, AND A WHITE PAIR.

How was this year’s Met Ball for the Costume Institute in New York?

RG: I WORE WHITE FUNNEL PANTS AND A JACKET WITH PIERRE HARDY LEATHER VANS WITH BLACK AND WHITE SOLES. I THOUGHT IT WAS LIKE SPRING AT SCHOOL. I WAS THE ONLY MAN IN THE ENTIRE PLACE WITH WHITE ON. I THOUGHT F**K, I DIDN’T MEAN TO STAND OUT AND I THOUGHT NOBODY IS GOING TO TAKE ANY RISK WHATSOEVER. THE WOMEN WERE GORGEOUS BUT THE MEN WERE BORING. JUST BOW TIES, I MEAN C’MON.I SPENT SOME TIME WITH ALBER ELBAZ. I DON’T MEET PEOPLE ON THE STREET THAT I AM READILY IMPRESSED BY. HE HAS HIS UNIFORM THAT IS BRILLIANT. A SUIT WITH LEATHER BEAT UP SHOES AND A CRAZY COLOR BOW TIE. PRETTY FUNNY. I FEEL LIKE WE’RE THOSE KIDS WHO LIVE ACROSS THE TRACKS FROM ONE ANOTHER BUT REALLY WANT TO HANG OUT. WHAT HE DESIGNS, I DON’T WANT TO PUT WORDS TO IT. IT IS IN THE FANCY WORLD AND I AM THE ANTI FANCY. IF I HAD GONE TO SCHOOL FOR DESIGN, I MIGHT BE DOING SOMETHING LIKE HE’S DOING.

When did you first start making things?

RG: BEEN DOING IT SINCE HANGING OUT WITH MY FATHER IN A HIGH CHAIR. MY FATHER AND MOTHER BELIEVE PEOPLE DON’T MAKE LIVINGS AS ARTISTS. I ASSUMED I NEEDED A JOB OF SOME SORT. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN ARTIST.

What are you favorite Rogan pieces for women?

RG: THE DRESSES REALLY BEAUTIFUL, CLEVER. THE KNIT PIECES ARE REALLY AMAZING. REVERSIBLE AND ELEGANT AT THE SAME TIME. WE TAKE A LITTLE MORE MASCULINE APPROACH TO FEMALE STUFF. I DON’T LIKE THE OVERTLY SEXY THING. I DEFINITELY LIKE A HEEL. PIERRE HARDY IS ELEGANT. SEXY APPEAL, BUT NOT OVERT.

Sweaters – cedar blocks. I don’t’ know if you need the aromatic kind. I just fold them in. I don’t mind some holes anyway
